Last weekend = SO FUN.
Friday, we went to Caruaru, which is known as the capital of forró (a Brazilian dance). We went as part of the celebration for São João, one of the saints being celebrated this month. This place was like a massive carnival, and so much fun.

This was actually at a place we stopped just before Caruaru. There were a lot of cool handicrafts and stuff for sale, as well as lots of food, including this tapioca pancake thing I am eating. Haha. Sorry I'm still not 100% sure how they make it; but it was delicious. Mine was flavored with coconut and sweetened condensed milk. They basically put sweetened condensed milk on everything...and it makes me wonder why we don't. It's delicious. Combined with coconut? I mean really, what's not to like? :)
Caruaru:
A churro filled with basically carmel syrup. I'm pretty sure it put me a lot closer to a heart attack, but it was really good :)
(Note: I promise I eat stuff other than junk food...)
On a super sketchy ferris wheel with Brady and Shawndeen.
Brady was rocking it, and Shawndeen was freaking out...something about Brazil not having safety regulations and we really might actually die.

Don't worry--we didn't :)
A not-very-good shot of the carnival from the top of the ferris wheel, but it kind of captures more of the carnival than any of my other pictures.
Loved these decorations
We went and watched a bunch of dances. Sadly, the videos won't upload.
(Let me rephrase that...after waiting forever and it still wasn't even half way I gave up.)
But aren't those dresses fantastic?

Saturday: Institute dance!
I love how friendly Brazilians are. These girls came up to us right at the beginning and started talking to us. They were so nice. I love people like that. People who make you feel welcome, even though you know you're different. People who can let you be yourself.
Life is good.
