Beautiful Sundays

Just kidding.  I know it's only July (and I've only listened to a LITTLE bit of Christmas music so far...) but that's the name of the other city we went to this weekend.  Natal.  (Christmas.)  It was so beautiful.  I loved it.  I love Recife a lot, but I think Natal is my favorite place we've gone so far.

Sunday was a good day.  We got to go to church (in João Pessoa, so I was off the hook for piano), then we headed out on more adventures.  I don't love traveling/sight-seeing on Sundays, but it was pretty low-key, and really beautiful.

First we went to the eastern-most point of South America.  See?  There I am.  There's the ocean right behind me, and there I am...standing on the bit of land that sees the sun come up first every morning!

We went to some pretty cool churches. I really liked this one.  Not really for any particular reason that I  can think of..I just really liked it.  It was really pretty, and had a huge courtyard thing out front, and in the back there was a pretty little garden.
This was also inside, though.  A lot of these beautiful buildings have things like this inside.  I am so very grateful for the Atonement, but I am also very grateful that we remember the Atonement in ways other than putting up statues and pictures like this.  Vanessa told me these were the things that scared her so much when she was Catholic.  I am so grateful that I grew up with pictures depicting Christ's goodness and love.

And just to end, something a little more beautiful :)
